A misfit in every space

I am the artist, Alden Klaput, and I primarily create surreal dark fantasy paintings. I delve into themes of isolation, power struggles, and pursuit of higher places, using the trappings of fantasy as symbols, rather than mere aesthetics. Rejecting my background as a lowbrow artist, I have begun to work towards more substantial pieces. Historically, my paintings have been more “materialistic fantasy,” which made my original body of work more fun to look at, but completely shallow and immature. It is not that I myself have become more mature over the years (for I remain wont to be a menace), but it is due to my hunger for something more that has driven me to seek depth within all of my work.

My art is very precious to me, for I function in a world that was not created with the sort of man I am in mind. For that reason, I fight for my time, and consider my craft to be of the greatest importance to me. I am oft times reminded that the world surrounding me will do everything in its power to rob me of both. They will not win. This mentality is what lies at the heart of my philosophy. My resolve to paint in spite of everything is what defines my Unrelenting Passion. All of my art created as if it’s my last chance is what defines my Desperate Pursuit.
